MEGAMAN^® Energy Saving Lamps Clinch Eco-Products Gold and Silver Awards 2007

Succeeding its accomplishment in 2005, MEGAMAN^® once again shines on the stage of the Eco-Products Award 2007 Presentation Ceremony, with its energy saving lamps, DIMMERABLE (Model no.: WL218d) and PING PONG (Model no.: GA807i), have been honoured with the Gold Award and Silver Award respectively.

Eco-Products Award Presentation Ceremony was held on 20 November, 2007 at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club by the Business Environment Council. The Eco-Products Award 2007 aims to commend environment-friendly or eco-products and visionary companies who are outstanding in reducing the environmental impact brought by their product life-cycle of design, manufacture, packaging, use and disposal. In the ceremony, MEGAMAN^® and representatives of awarded winners were invited to get involved in an interactive panel discussion section chaired by Dr Andrew Thomson, the Chief Executive Officer of Business Environment Council, to share their experience in developing the green products.

Conforming to most of the international environmental standards including RoHS, the top priority of MEGAMAN^® DIMMERABLE and PING PONG in product design is environmental protection. Through a ‘Design for Environment’ program, environmental concepts are injected into every stage of the product life-cycle to minimise the impact on the environment. The materials were carefully selected and manufacturing processes were closely monitored to achieve over 80% of recovery rate after disposal. MEGAMAN^® employed lead-free glass tubes and minimal mercury levels (less than 3mg) that cause less pollution. The use of water-based phosphor coating, recyclable plastic and water-based adhesive, together with the use of the ‘Mechanical Snap-in’ method all help to eliminate the application of lead-soldering and other toxic substances, further eliminating the damages to the environment.

MEGAMAN^® DIMMERABLE provides a linear and smooth dimming experience with a dimmable range from 10% to 100%, offering further energy savings when switching to dimmer levels. At the same time, MEGAMAN^® DIMMERABLE delivers 10,000 hours lamp life and consumes 80% less power comparable to incandescent lamps.

The sublime PING PONG series is designed to look the same as the incandescent P45. The PING PONG energy-saving lamp utilises minimal wattage of only 5 Watt and 7 Watt to produce equivalent lumen levels in 25 Watt and 35 Watt incandescent. Comparatively, it lasts 15 times longer, which means a life span of as long as 15,000 hours with the implementation of MEGAMAN^® patented INGENIUM^® technology.
