German Federal Environment Minister said that The Best Energy Saving Lamps Came from MEGAMAN®
German Federal Environment Minister Sigmar Gabriel said that the best energy saving lamps came from MEGAMAN®, when he referred to a test report from 'Stiftung Warentest':
"This is a test for low-energy light bulbs. And a Chinese manufacturer is ranking first: MEGAMAN®. It is not Osram or Philips, but a Chinese supplier, who provides the best product in the section of low-energy light bulbs. The Chinese people did not simply copy the German development; they advanced our development. Based on this example, I think that many people in Germany did not yet recognize that we are on the best way to lose our advance."
Minister Gabriel made a speech on 11 November 2008 at a conference in Berlin about environmental technologies in Germany. He had repeatedly announced in the past, that climate and environmental technologies have to be supported by the state. He further stressed that there is increasing competition in environmental technologies worldwide.
Reason for MEGAMAN® to stand out is due to its effort in putting sustainability as one of the highest priorities in its company policy, strives its excellence in continuously creating high energy-efficiency lamps and eco-friendly lighting products. Through a "Design for Environment" Program, MEGAMAN® has devoted itself to implementing environmental measures in the entire product life cycle, including product design, manufacturing process, product disposal and recycle. Eco-friendly materials, such as recyclable plastic and lead –free glass tubes are employed, offering the best and total eco-lighting solution to consumers to reduce carbon footprint and avert climate change.
Taking an aggressive step further, MEGAMAN® has implemented Amalgam, a Liquid Mercury Free green manufacturing process in its lamp production, making all its products FREE from liquid mercury. Showcasing this innovation in this year Hong Kong Lighting Fair as key theme, this innovation successfully captured a lot of press and participants attention as it not only protects worker during production and transportation, but also end users during usage, avoiding exposure to liquid mercury. The solid form of Amalgam makes the lamp safer to handle on disposal so that it would not lead to land and water contamination.
