MEGAMAN® Partnership with Tom Dixon at MOST 2013 Expands Understanding of LED Potential in Design Community
(Hong Kong – 21 May, 2013) Thanks to MEGAMAN®’s partnership with Tom Dixon at MOST, designers who would not have considered LEDs due to aesthetics have been converted to their potential.

Traditionally, designers have been reticent to include LED light sources in their products due to fears surrounding the aesthetics of the end product. However MOST 2013 gave us the opportunity to show that LED technology and design can work hand in hand to deliver dramatic results.
“Tom Dixon's Cell Wall Light, which was launched with an exclusively designed MEGAMAN® Crown Brass LED lamp (pictured), was so well received by designers who attended MOST that many left with a fresh view of LEDs and their potential in decorative lighting applications. The aim of creating the LED Crown Brass lamp for the Cell Wall Light was to show that LEDs can ‘play with light and dark’ as well as older, incandescent, light sources. Up until recently, designers have resisted LED lighting, seeing it as a ‘new technology’ that they are unsure of. Thanks to our involvement with Tom Dixon we have led the way in showing that energy efficiency can look beautiful.” We believe that this collaboration opens the door to the future use of many of MEGAMAN®’s standard LED light sources in decorative fixtures - with dramatic effect.
Renowned designer Tom Dixon commented recently in an interview with Design Week1 that: “My objective in all of this is to work in partnership to understand the rapid evolution of low energy lighting myself. If you go to a supermarket and look at the vast array of different low energy possibilities you have to be a scientist to figure it out, but as an interior designer it struck me as an opportunity to try and simplify people’s perceptions of low energy. It’s all too rare for us as designers to have a new technology to play with. It’s a really interesting time for lighting in general so it’s really nice to be paired with a ‘mega company’.”
