MEGAMAN^® Sponsors the First 10-Day Social Innovation Festival Gathering Ideas to Inspire Socially Innovative Spirit

(8 October 2013, Hong Kong) The Jockey Club Design Institute for Social Innovation of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University held the first 10-day “Social Innovation Festival 2013” featuring “social innovation”. The aim was to urge people to think outside the box and uncover details which have been overlooked throughout their lives, and inspire the community with endless possibilities. Through the launch of an array of activities such as creative exhibitions, workshops and seminars, the festival enabled students, teenagers, the elderly and professionals from various sectors to interact and share on the campus of PolyU and then apply a co-creative spirit in the community.

MEGAMAN^® has always been committed to community care through active promotion of social inclusion and encouragement of the creative industry. As part of MEGAMAN^® Charity Trust Fund’s sponsorship of Social Innovation Festival 2013, it displayed a community lighting project at the venue, which was previously completed in collaboration with Britain’s Royal College of Art, to enlighten the public on how to make good use of light sources and illuminate dark corners of public areas to enhance safety in our communities. Moreover, professional lighting consultants from MEGAMAN^® also participated in “Design for the Silver Age”, a co-creative design workshop at the Social Innovation Festival during which they provided professional advice on the pre-planning of the workshop, shared how to use light applications and discussed professional lighting design skills. They created new designs for the silver age, together with designers and elderly people, to tackle the challenges of an aging population and cater to the growing senior market. All of the participants had great fun throughout the entire process from concept inspiration to creation of prototypes.

The event was held at the Jockey Club Innovation Tower of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Some of the exhibits will remain on display until 8 December. Don’t miss this opportunity to be enlightened.
