MEGAMAN^® Attains Green Company Labels Fulfilling Criteria on Green Office Measures for a Sustainable Future

(23^rd December 2013, Hong Kong) MEGAMAN^®, the green herald of LED lighting, is proud to announce its attainment of the World Green Organisation’s (WGO) Green Office Label and the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (UNMDG) – Better World Company Label effective from October 2013 to October 2014. The awards recognise MEGAMAN^®’s on-going commitment and achievements in implementing green measures in its corporate office, which fulfill the socio-environmental organisations’ stringent criteria.

WGO is an independent non-governmental organisation concerned with environmental conservation and environmentally related livelihood and economic affairs. Its Green Office Awards Labelling Scheme (GOALS) accesses companies’ green measures in terms of 50+ green office best practices in nine major areas including energy savings, water savings, waste reduction, paper/ printing, green procurement, IT use and disposal, transportation, education and awareness as well as green innovation. For example, it assesses if a company uses natural light and LED lightings instead of tungsten filaments. MEGAMAN^® fulfilled level 1-3 for the majority of the 50+ best practices criteria. Another example is the donation of 10%-20% of MEGAMAN^®’s annual return to charitable green groups.

The award of the labels required a green audit which took place in August 2013. MEGAMAN^®’s management presented the evidence of criteria implementation and arranged a walk through the office with the auditors.

Junior Chamber International (JCI) is the official partner of the United Nation and supports UN Millennium Development Goals (UNMDG). MEGAMAN^®’s award of the UMMDG – Better World Company Label further attests to the company’s effort in tackling environmental degration, which is one of the United Nation’s goals for this century.

MEGAMAN^® will continue to support this green office scheme in order to help propel Hong Kong towards a low carbon city.
